Dear Donor;

We are a non-profit group of local hunters, fishermen, boaters, and law enforcement, who wish to pass on some of our outdoor experiences to the kids of our area. Last year with the support of the community we provided a day of hands on activities for 120 kids. Along with the activities each child received a “door prize” for participating. These prizes were provided by local businesses like you. Many also donated prizes for some of the seventy volunteers who assisted at each event. We also provided lunch for each of the kids and the volunteers. We rely on the support of the community to provide this service. Our goal is to give each child a chance to experience something they may never have thought they could do. The events they participate in are:

1.       Canoeing; Kids are paired up and supervised as they learn about water safety and how to handle a canoe.

2.       Waterfowl Hunting; Kids learn about the equipment needed to hunt waterfowl, and how dogs are used and trained. They also see how the dogs are trained and watch them work retrieving decoys.

3.       Casting Contest; Kids try and cast away to claim a prize and learn about various fish in the area.

4.       Commercial Fishing; The whole group will go out on a commercial crabbing boat and learn about crabbing from a professional waterman. They also will learn about the life of the blue crab and the importance of conservation.

5.       .22 Rifle; With one on one instruction kids will learn gun safety and get to shoot 10 targets.

6.       Shotgun; Clay birds are thrown for the kids to experience shooting on the fly, also stationary targets are provided.

7.       Muzzleloader Rifle; Kids are shown the process of shooting primitive black powder weapons from loading to cleaning.

8.       Bow and Arrow; The kids are instructed on proper handling of the bow and get to practice aiming and shooting the arrows at targets that are set up for their enjoyment.
